Who We Are   


DnB Design is Doug Cripps and Brian Hsieh who, between them, have over 50 years of experience in the entertainment and theatrical industry.

With over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Doug is an accomplished programmer on numerous lighting consoles including the High End Systems Whole Hogs and ETC Eos and Ion.  Doug has supervised complex effects installations involving lasers and fire effects for the Fantasmic! show at Disneyland, Anaheim.  Doug is also an experienced lighting designer with additional experience in show control design.

As principal sound designer for DnB Design, Brian has extensive experience as a sound mixer and designer in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and on Broadway in New York.  Brian has been the mix engineer for productions such as Cirque du Soleil’s KA and Mystere, Mamma Mia and BLAST!.  Design and assistant design credits include Lestat, The Pirate Queen, Young Frankenstein, La Cage Aux Folles, Atlanta, Nightmare Alley, Ragtime, Journey to the West, Spider-Man:Turn off the Dark and Allegiance.  Brian is involved with some of the top audio manufacturers in product development and design.

John is a graduate of the University of California in Irvine with a degree in Drama.  He has been a proud member of Rogue Artists Ensemble since 2007. Since joining Rogue Artists Ensemble, he has been nominated for several awards for excellence in sound design, including an Ovation Award nomination for Best Sound Design in Intimate Theater for his work on Mr. Punch as well as nominations from both Drama Critics Circle and LA Weekly for his sound design of Gogol Project and HYPERBOLE: origins.

Nick Van Houten is a freelance lighting designer and programmer based out of Southern California and a recent graduate of Cal State Fullerton’s nationally-ranked Theatrical Design Program.

    For the past 10 years, Nick has had the opportunity to be involved in over 150 productions---from live theatre, to gala events, to broadcast programming. Also working as a technician, Nick is an experienced lighting programmer, production electrician, audio engineer, and special effects technician.

    Nick’s work has been published several times in trade magazines such as LIVE DESIGN, ENTERTAINMENT DESIGN, and STAGE DIRECTIONS. Nick also has spoken at the national USITT Conference on his wireless special effects work.

Who Works WIth Us

Steve Giltner, Lead Lighting Designer for STEVEGDESIGN, has been working as a lighting designer in and around the Southern California area for the past 10 years. His extensive experience in theater and excellent training from CSU, Fullerton, one of the top theater schools in Southern California, have made him extremely versatile in his field. As a designer he excels in maintaining a balance between the artistic and technical sides of design, providing shows with a professional and polished look. He is excited by the opportunities that his line of work provides him and is always eager to take on new roles.
